What are Tick Borne Diseases?
Ticks latch onto humans and animals, imbed their mouth parts into their hosts' skin, and suck their blood. This makes these parasites perfect vectors for spreading disease.
In the United States, ticks spread numerous disease to us including potentially deadly Lyme Disease, Babesiosis, Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever in US, Ehrlichiosis, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Tick Born Enaphelitus (TBE), Southern Tick-Associated Rash Illness (STAR1), Tick-Borne Relapsing Fever, Human Anaplasmosis.
COMMON DISEASE SYMPTOMS
Lyme: Bulls-eye rash, steady fever with chills and joint pain, severe headache, fatigue, swollen joints/lymph nodes, heart palpitations, sleep disruption, neuropathy, Bell's Palsy. It can be fatal if not diagnosed in a timely manner.
Babesiosis: Headache, fever, fatigue, weakness, appetite loss, muscle pain, sweats, and confusion. If untreated, up to 5% die.
HGE: Rash is UNCOMMON. You could experience fever/chills/shaking, muscle/joint pain, headache, general malaise, nausea, vomiting, weight loss, and/or confusion. It too can be fatal if left untreated.
Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever: A spotty rash usually occurs within 5-10 days after infection and is fatal in 10% of cases.
